Severity scale:iBotnet severity is 30  (30 / 100)

iBotnet is a network of Mac computers crated by trojan viruses called OSX.Trojan.iServices.A and OSX.Iservice.B. These trojans are propagated in pirated copies of Apple Computer's iWork '09 and Adobe Photoshop CS4 found on certain P2P networks. Illegally distributed iWork '09 version is completely functional, but it contains an additional package called iWorkServices.pkg. This package is installed automatically when the user runs iWork '09 installer.

Once installed, the trojan connects to a remote server over the Internet and creates unauthorized remote connection. It performs undisclosed malicious functions and may even download additional components to an infected Mac. That's why, it is strongly recommended to download software only from reputable sources. We suggest you to scan your computer with reliable anti-spyware application if you have any doubts about recently downloaded files or you think that your computer is already a part of iBotnet.
