Kardphisher is a trojan that pretends to be a legitimate tool from Microsoft for Windows activation. Once executed, it opens an activation form and asks the user to provide confidential information including name, e-mail, phone address and credit card number. Gathered data is transferred to predetermined web server. If the user refuses to provide any information, Kardphisher turns off a computer. The trojan prevents the user from running any other application. It also disables the Task Manager. Kardphisher runs on every Windows startup.
