Remote Administration Tool is a special kind of hacker spyware, used for remote access and control of other people's computers. The attacker infects the PC via the e-mail or File and Print Sharing. A "server" allows him to connect via a "client" on his own machine. The functions of a RAT may vary, depending on the needs of the hacker. This pest was written in Visual Basic programming language. Created by a group called Bytekeepers, Inc. It originated in August 2001.

"Lanbyte is a remote administration tool that enables the administrator to logoff, reboot, and terminate a computer from a remote location. It also enables the system administrator to run programs remotely, which then gives the system administrator the flexibility to execute remote management scripts like perl, php, c/c++, vbs, js, etc.... It acts as a supplement to both WINBYTE and DATABYTE. It is also the complement of ANTIBYTE."
