Limewire can secretly get into the system from several malicious web sites or come along with free ad-supported software. Its main task is to serve commercial advertisements to user desktop or within related program. Limewire modifies essential system and, sometimes, browser settings without asking for user permission, so the adware could start automatically on every Windows startup and work hidden in background. Limewire doesn't compromise system security, but obstructs usual web surfing and may violate user privacy by tracking his Internet activity.

I dont believe that Limewire is Adware. However, when installed u can get Trojans and Viruses when u download stuff from Limewire, especially programs. So becareful when downloading.
