Mytob is a quite dangerous mass-mailing worm with lots of harmful features. It spreads via e-mail using own SMTP engine. The worm composes connected and meaningful messages, attaches infected files and sends them to e-mail addresses, gathered from local files and accounts. It checks collected addresses and avoids sending itself to security-related addresses. Mytob has backdoor functions. It secretly connects to the Internet and awaits commands from the attacker. Such commands allow to download and install programs, manage the system and perform other malicious actions. The worm starts automatically on every system startup and works in background. It blocks access to security-related web sites and terminates running security software.
