This is a Remote Administration Tool that is used by hackers to control the victim's machine remotely. The possibilities of such program depend on the needs of the attacker. The attacker infects the PC via the e-mail or File and Print Sharing. A "server" allows him to connect via a "client" on his own machine. The functions of a RAT may vary, depending on the needs of the hacker. Several versions (Net-Devil 1.0, Net-Devil 1.1, Net-Devil 1.2, Net-Devil 1.3, Net-Devil 1.3c, Net-Devil 1.4, Net-Devil 1.5) appeared in the internet from August 2001 to July 2004. This dangerous pest can spy on user activities by logging keystrokes and stealing passwords as they are being typed in. It can take screenshots of user activity and send the collected info to the intruder. The author is a hacker called Nilez. The RAT affects such operating systems as Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows NT, Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows Me. Users of Windows 3.x, Microsoft IIS, Macintosh, UNIX, Linux are immune to this threat.
