OtShot is also known as Ot Shot | Type: Adware

OtShot is a potentially unwanted application, which may infiltrate your computer in a bundle with freeware and shareware. Yes, you can download it from its official website as a tool capable to personalize your digital photos, but there are many PC users who have reported about the surprising discovery of this application. As soon as it gets inside the PC, OtShot modifies some of PC's parameters and may start initiating various unwanted activities. For example, OtShot can be blamed for showing commercial pop-up advertisements and causing browser's redirections. Besides, as its license agreement notifies, this program may track its victims and their online activity. That's why we recommend staying away from OfShot.

HOW CAN I GET OTSHOT ON MY COMPUTER?

Users can download OtShot application from its official website, which is called as otshot.net. However, it can also infiltrate the system in a bundle with freeware and shareware. If you want to prevent its infiltration, you should avoid freeware and shareware. However, if you still need a specific software, you should choose a custom installation, not the automatic installation method, and uncheck unfamiliar entries. As soon as it is installed, this program acts exactly as its License Agreement notifies:

... services may involve the use of cookies to store information about your visits. In addition, during the course of providing advertisements to this site, third-party advertisers may place or recognize a unique cookie on your computer's hard drive...

What is adware?

Adware is a program that displays advertisements while people are browsing online. Advertisements appear in a web browser, pop-up windows, special toolbars or within the host program. Adware also can gather information about user’s habits and interests. Once it collects what it needs, it sends it out through a background Internet connection. Such behavior allows adware vendors to deliver targeted advertisements to the end user and collect general statistics. However, it may also be used for stealing people’s private data.

Adware is divided into parasitical and legitimate applications. Illegal advertising programs are very similar to spyware parasites and often have some of their functions. They can be installed without user's knowledge and start working every time a computer is rebooted. However, they are less dangerous than rogues because the most of such parasites are primarily intended to collect user’s personal information for marketing and advertising purposes. Unfortunately, you can never know what other purposes it can be used for.

Symptoms showing that your computer was infected by OtShot:

•  Appearance of annoying pop-up ads
•  Appearance of banners and in-text ads
•  Redirects to unknown and suspicious websites
•  Changes in homepage and default search engine
•  Decreased speed of every Internet browser
