Pirvatesearch is a dangerous Google Chrome extension

Pirvatesearch Extension is a suspicious browser extension[1] for Google Chrome web browser. This potentially unwanted application is promoted on malicious websites that ask to install this add-on in order to leave the site. Users are usually redirected to such sites by an adware program that managed to enter the system in the software bundle. Pirvatesearch is promoted as a useful tool that offers “to search the internet independently.” However, after the installation, it starts working as a browser hijacker that does not allow browsing the Internet privately. It might alter browser’s settings and redirect searches to suspicious search engines, such as search.hr or services.searchy.info, and then display results from Yahoo Search. Apart from this disturbing activity, it may also deliver an excessive amount of online ads and other commercial content from yutksd25.club, various advertising networks, and affiliates. Such activities not only diminishes browsing experience, makes Chrome crash or freeze frequently, but might also pose a danger to the users. Some ads or redirects to unknown third-party websites might end up with malware attack, phishing scam or data loss. Thus, you should not hesitate and protect yourself from possible damage by scanning the computer with Reimage or another reputable anti-malware program. It will help to remove Pirvatesearch Extension with within few minutes.

The image of Pirvatesearch Extension

Apart from suspicious and worrying Pirvatesearch redirect tendencies, it might also be capable of tracking information about users. Usually, potentially unwanted programs are designed to collect non-personally identifiable data that usually consists of browsing-related details, such as browsing history, visited pages, time spent on particular sites, clicked ads, IP address, etc. However, it might be also interested in some personally identifiable details as well or it may allow installation of third-party tracking technologies. Thus, Pirvatesearch removal is necessary in order to protect your online privacy[2] and avoid privacy-related issues.

Aggressive distribution methods of the extension

Authors of Pirvatesearch apply aggressive strategies to spread this application. Usually, users are redirected to a malicious website that triggers a pop-up message asking to install this add-on. Such redirects might be initiated by an adware program or when browsing on high-risk sites (e.g. gaming, gambling or adult-themed websites). The pop-up looks like an ordinary Chrome’s notification. For this reason, users might think that it’s a legitimate message. Sometimes these alerts force people to install Pirvatesearch Extension in order to leave a particular site. These pop-ups might be designed to force people to install this add-on even if they click “Cancel” button or marks a checkbox saying “Prevent hits page from creating additional dialogs.” Thus, if you end up on a malicious site that asks to install particular software, please do not click any button, just close the tab. If you cannot do it, force-quit the browser and perform a system scan with anti-malware software.

What is more, Pirvatesearch hijack might also occur during incorrect installation of freeware or shareware. This application might be added as an optional component in software bundles and enter the system if a user installs a new program under “Quick” or “Recommended” settings. Such setups rarely disclose about optional downloads and install all third-party apps by default. Thus, in order to avoid similar applications, you have to install programs using “Advanced” or “Custom” setup. If you encounter the list of pre-selected entries, please untick them all.
