ProtectingTool is yet another rogue anti-spyware scam, and is a clone of CleanPCTool and StorageProtector. This parasite covers itself as a performance optimizer - the second most popular rogue type - but is actually no different than any other corrupt tool. ProtectingTool infects the system by using trojans, such as Zlob, and floods the user with popups and fake system notifications to scare him into buying the fake full version of the program.

ProtectingTool is made on the same template as a number of other rogues, such as AVSystemCare and StorageProtector. It is a scam and should be treated as such: do NOT download or buy ProtectingTool and block protectingtool.com using your HOSTS file.

• Stays resident in background
