Ransom-E is a trojan virus that pretends to be an installer for software, but actually, it is just a tool to perform an SMS fraud. This trojan is advertised on P2P networks, IRC channels, newsgroup postings, email spam and in other methods. Usually, Ransom-E performs fake media player installation that requires sending an SMS message to receive a certain activation code and to complete installation process. Ransom-E should be removed as soon as possible after detection. Appearance of a dialog box such as this shown below is a first symptom of infection.
