Searchqu is a browser hijacker that seems to turn into completely useless application after some time. When trying to uninstall, many users find it difficult because it doesn’t show up in the programs’ list. This tricky application is installed together with freeware or shareware and designed to make various modifications unnoticeably for the user. For example, as soon as Searchqu is installed, it sets searchqu.com as the default home page, adds additional search engine also called Web Search and sometimes even causes unexpected redirections to searchqu.com or search-results.com. Searchqu hasn’t been researched to rely on Trojans or distribute malware. However, it can be quite complicated to remove its toolbar completely or restore web browser's default settings. To remove Searchqu successfully, use this step-by-step removal guide. Pay attention to your browser type and follow the steps:

Remove Searchqu from IE:

1. Open IE, go Tools → Manage Add-ons.

2. Choose Toolbars and Extensions, uninstall everything related to Searchqu from the list: Searchqu toolbar, UrlHelper Class, etc.

3. Choose Search Providers → Bing search engine and make it your default search provider. In addition, select Web Search, click Disable suggestions.

4. Go Tools → Internet Options, select General tab and click Use default or enter your own website name, google.com or other instead of searchqu.com. Finally, click OK to save the changes.

Remove Searchqu from Mozilla Firefox:

1. Open Mozilla Firefox, go Tools → Add-ons.

2. Choose Extensions → Searchqu Toolbar and click Uninstall.

3. Go Tools → Options, reselt the startup homepage or change it to google.com instead of Searchqu under the General tab.

Uninstall Searchqu from Google Chrome:

1. Click the icon Customize and control Google Chrome → Options.

2. Choose Basic Options and change Google Chrome homepage to google.com or any other browser, then click Manage search engines… button.

3. Choose Google and make it your default search engine.

4.Select Web Search from the list and remove it by clicking the “X” mark.

searchqu does not show up in the extensions box of Firefox 9. Still cant get rid of it.

Ditto... I removed searchqu from the extensions box, but was unable to remove datamgr, which I think is where the bugger is hiding. Any suggestions?

I was able to delete ilivid and searchqu from my programs list, as well as bandoo, but I cannot find it anywhere on my C Drive. It must be hiding in a sub file or under a different name? When I get online my default webpage pops up with no problem. My browser is firefox. However, if I go to START and then type in "Internet Explorer" in the search box, and then click on Internet Explorer (64-bit), for instance, the next window that pops up has www.searchqu.com/406 in the address bar. Another little window pops up at the bottom of this page asking if I want to make IE my default browser. I click NO. I really dont have problems with getting redirected to an unwanted site, but I know this searchqu is still in my computer and I think it is making it run much slower. I want to get rid of it PERIOD! Any help would be much appreciated.
