Searchzweb.com virus. How to remove? (Uninstall guide)

Here’s why your web browser redirects you to Searchzweb.com so frequently:

Searchzweb.com virus is a shady application that sneaks in the target computer system after convincing the victim that it is simply a useful browser Search toolbar. This potentially unwanted program (PUP) might be installed along with various free programs, especially those downloaded from torrent sites or other vague file sharing sources[1]. If you manage to unexpectedly install this application, your browser’s homepage will be changed into Searchzweb.com and as a result that URL will show up every time you open your web browser. Do not let the innocent appearance of this search tool fool you – it is not a safe search engine, and its main goal is to provide you content from affiliate websites, which pay the developer of Searchzweb.com for each additional visitor. Therefore, Searchzweb.com redirects users to these sites when they click on corrupted search results. Using such search engine is not the most pleasant experience in the world, especially because there is a risk of visiting dangerous third-party sites[2]. If you do not want to be redirected to potentially dangerous websites while browsing through search results, better get rid of this browser hijacker and consider using a different search tool (which you used before Searchzweb.com hijack happened, for instance). To delete the infection, we highly recommend using an anti-spyware or anti-malware[3] program. For example, we recommend using Reimage. If you wish, you can look at Searchzweb.com removal guide that is given below and try to remove this hijacker[4] manually.

Another fact that might convince you to remove Searchzweb.com is that the PUP associated with this domain might be trying to collect certain data about your browsing habits, for instance, it might steal information that reveals your browsing history, search queries, software that you use, and similar information. Despite the fact that such info is considered to be non-personally identifiable, you can never know what it might be used for. One thing that we know is that this hijacker uses it to analyze trends and deliver targeted advertisements, but as we have mentioned, sponsored content from this hijacker might lead to suspicious web pages, so better stay away from them.

How did I get hijacked?

Nobody likes to see uninvited programs in our computers, especially if we know nothing about them. To avoid potentially unwanted programs[5], we highly suggest choosing Advanced or Custom settings when installing new computer programs. These settings will give you a chance to review additional components bundled with your download and also allow you to drop them off. Once you select the right installation option, just deselect all suggested third-party applications and proceed to the next step. This way, you won’t have to spend time trying to remove Searchzweb.com or another pesky program later on. The best way to block malicious attempts to install shady software on your system is to install security software. It is highly recommended to use anti-spyware or anti-malware program alongside traditional antivirus software.
