Title: SpywareQuake
Also known as: spyware quake, Spyware Quake 4.3, SpywareQuake 4.3
Type: Trojans
Severity scale:SpywareQuake severity is 70  (70 / 100)

SpywareQuake is a fake and corrupt anti-spyware application that is prone to infiltrate systems via trojans and websites of questionable security. Once inside, SpywareQuake proceeds to harass users with false security pop-up notifications, which, once clicked upon, start a counterfeit scan.

The reports of this scan tend to be exaggerated and full of bogus threats, which SpywareQuake uses to trick people into buying its full version. DO NOT trust this parasite, as it is designed with the sole purpose of milking money from unsuspecting users!

I think I got rid of most of this virus, but clicking on Yahoo search results are still getting hijacked to other sites. Also, I have been unable to run Norton System Works or Lavasoft Ad-Aware since my computer contracted this virus. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

realize that it has at least half a dozen other names. It was spyfalcon on mine. I used ad-aware, spybot s+d, regedit, and AVG free to clean out all of it. System restore did NOT help. My whoever created it get a permenant case of extreme acne over every square MM of his body!

I got rid of the darn thing blinking!!!! I basically went to Start>search>typed in spywarequake and deleted anything having to do with it. I then tried Spyware Doctor, which I do not recommend at all. It did something screwy to my pc. Deleted that. Then tried enigmasoftwares Spyhunter, ran the whole scan and it asked me to buy it for $29.99, instead, I used my Ad-Aware and that took care of it all. Restart after you quarantine and remove all files related to spywarequake. That should take care of it.

Here is how I got rid of this piece of crap trojan.

1. Search and find the program smitrem. Download this to your desktop. DO NOT RUN YET. I found it here: http://noahdfear.geekstogo.com/
2. Right click My Computer, properties, system restore. TURN SYSTEM RESTORE OFF.
3. Click START BUTTON, choose RUN. Type in regedit, press enter key.
4. CTRL + F enter SpywareQuake hit Enter.
5. Delete each reference the search finds. Hit F3 to find the next entry and continue to delete all entries.
6. Explore Program FIles, delete SpywareQuake folders.
7. Restart Computer in SAFE MODE (F8 on many comuters after power up)
8. Load windows safe mode.
9. Delete the recylce bin.
10. Execute the Smitrem program (which is free). Follow instructions and let the program do its job.

THis will remove all traces of the program and the wheel chair, Exclamation Warning and Circle with Red Cross.

I had three of them.

MOST ALL PROGRAMS CLAIMING TO REMOVE THIS ARE SIMPLY MORE TROJANS.

Good Luck...
HARDDON

XoftSpy.com has a program that will contain the home page redirect, for $50.00.

But it wont get rid of the damn warning stuff that keeps popping up.

Save your money on that one.

I tried newest AdAware, Spybot S&D, and SmitRem. They removed a ton of spyware but not SpywareQuake. I used Spyware Doctor and it removed it. Thank You!

How do you get rid of the blinking icon? I have deleted the other stuff using Spybot Ad-Aware and Spyware Doctor but the blinking Icon is still there. So how do I get rid of it?

i'm hoping this helps..i feel like i've been everywhere online looking for a way to get rid of this virus..what i really hate is the fact that these things are allowed to happen. it has me wondering why some sort of law is not in place to prosecute people who secretly invade our privacy through the internet. i have only one idea on how i contracted this virus and that is through myspace.com. besides that..all the websites i go to are free of this kind of crap. and i say myspace because immediately after using the site..this virus started doing what it does on my computer..please be aware..

15. by Guest. 2006-07-10 21:07:31
how do i knopw if i install this spywarequake deleter that it is not like spywarequake itself then cannot delete it if i musty??

16. by Guest. 2006-07-09 23:07:21
look for a program called atmclk.exe, if its on your computer youll have to start your computer in safe mode to delete it because its constantly running, in fact any program that you are sure of is spyware can be deleted easily in safe mode, but you should only do this if youre entirely sure its spyware or a virus or something related.

I've been trying to use this program for about 15 minutes now and all it does is it freezes and nothing appears....what's the deal here?
I tried another progran and the same thing was happening as well

I find if you're persistant with a good spyware application vendor and if you submit a host file, you can remove SpywareQuake, eventually. I have tried many different programs and a lot of didn't work. However eventually I was able to remove it with host file submission to my spyware vendor.

spybot search and destroy said tat it removed this, but i still have the pop-up icon, and IE still goes to a differnet website each time i open it instead of my homepage. i have checked my settings, and the home page is still listed correctly. also, i have not been able to find xenadot.dll ... i have found a xenaroll.dll .... my question : is this the same file, and is there any other automated (free) removal software that works well for this particular program.

using windows xp home on a pos dell 1gig.

I just downloaded this product to get rid of "Spyware Quake" on my computer. It completely removed this virus and I just wanted you to know that I am very happy with the results. I will recommend "Spyware Doctor" to everyone.

Thanks Again,
Tina
