I removed system security 2009 on my vista machine with malwarebytes. Now, I cannot connect to my internet. Anyone have suggestions?

I rebooted in safe mode, went in to msconfig through the RUN app, disabled the 2 files that run. I went ahead and deleted those files, then I ran system restore to 4 days prior. Then I ran my anti virus and spyware removers. All good in the hood.

boot in to safemode. go in to msconfig. disable it form there. then use malwarebytes to remove it! =)

I was fortunate enough to be able to boot up in Safe Mode and do a System Restore, then I could run good Anti-Virus clean-up software. Prior to that my laptop wouldn't run anything, Task Mgr etc and I had to do a hard re-boot to get into Safe Mode.

Firstly I'd like to know whether or not the "download" to get rid of this virus is free. The whole program. I don't want to have to play 20 bucks for something I'm only going to use once. Secondly, when I go into safe mode, it doesn't let me delete any of my files. Could someone help me?

It turns your desktop picture into a message that says warning your computer is infected............ really sucks

Hi. Safe mode might not work, but safe mode with just the command line (or whatever its called) worked for me. From there you can access the registry and delete keys and files and stuff.
Hope those system scurity guys are having fun. I know I would be if I got my hands on them.

Tried SAFE MODE - you would be able to go to Task Mgr and REGEDIT but the SYSTEM SECURITY 2009 does not exist in the registry key

I am advised that virus software companies such as McAfee have a number to the overseas tech support where they can help remotely. This insidious parasite can be quarantined, but not always removed. The tech support is allegedly free and may take a long time but works.
