TheDefend is a rogue anti-spyware program. You should remove this malicious software from your computer upon detection using the provided removal guide. The Defend malware is from the same family as GuardPcs, SiteAdware, AntiKeep and other rogue programs from the WiniSoft family. Basically, it's the same thing only the name is different. TheDefend displays fake security alerts and false scan results about serious computer infections just to trick you into believing that your computer is infected with Trojans and other malware. Usually, TheDefend comes from fake online scanners or bundled with other malware. When running, it simulates a system scan and displays numerous infections that can be removed only if you purchase the program. Of course, this is a scam. What is more, this misleading application displays fake security center [Figure 2] almost identical to Windows Security Center and states that your computer doesn't have virus protection. Furthermore, it recommends activating TheDefend to remove the infections which do not even exist and to ensure full system protection. Both statements are false. The Defend is an infection itself and it can;t be trusted.

TheDefend also displays fake notifications from the Windows Taskbar. One of those notifications reads:

Spyware Alert!
Your computer is infected with spyware. It could damage your critical files or expose your private data on the Internet. Click here to register your copy of TheDefend and remove spyware threats from your PC.

There shouldn't be any doubts; TheDefend is nothing more but a scam. Please use the manual removal instructions below or an automatic removal tool to remove this infection from your computer as soon as possible. And remember; do not purchase this misleading program.
