U.Z.A. O/S Eliminator is a smart worm spreading via USB keys and similar portable devices. The main feature of U.Z.A. O/S Eliminator is the ability to run automatically. The autorun function enables worm to spread fast by copying itself to USB keys.

Not only U.Z.A. O/S Eliminator makes copies of itself but it also disturbs users with other activities. This infection is easy to recognize because it changes desktop wallpaper to black background with white text “U.Z.A. Operating System” on it. The worm also “informs” about “UZA O/S” on a computer by displaying a text on a system tray next to the clock. These functions may look like some kind of joke, but they are difficult to get rid of.

U.Z.A. O/S Eliminator creates “My_Personal_Data” file on all thumb drives in touch with infected computer. The icon of “My_Personal_Data” file looks like regular folder icon, but it hides executable file. If clicked upon, it attaches the U.Z.A. O/S Eliminator worm to a computer and the circle of infection keeps going this way. It is able to limit access to Windows Task Manager. U.Z.A. O/S Eliminator worm can be prevented if autorun feature is disabled on a computer.
