Virus Shield 2009 is a bogus anti-spyware application. It is clearly a copy of Virus Doctor, because the structure and graphical user interface (GUI) are almost identical. Virus Shield 2009 is promoted through the use of Trojans. It might be also advertised on various malicious websites. Trojan viruses display fake notifications stating that user's computer is infected. When user clicks on these alerts, he will download and install VirusShield 2009 onto his your computer automatically.

Once VirusShield2009 is active, it performs fake system scan and reports mainly bogus results about various infections, such as spyware, malware and Trojans. It will also flood the system with fake and annoying security alerts. Here's an example of bogus Virus Shield 2009 security alert:
