I have heard that we cannot remove Virut and the only solution is to reinstall the OS. Is that rigt?

I got my pc infected by this virut, formatted and installed again, and now i have some kind of virus affecting the mdm.exe, i installed Malwarebytes Anti Malware, and it says it's clean... i'm afraid this virus turns into something like virut again, and kill ALL my exe, like first time...
