Windows Safety Maintenance is a rogue anti-spyware program from the Fake.Vimes malware family. This fake program is promoted and installed mostly via Trojan droppers that come from fake online virus scanners and infected websites. It is also promoted via spam and social networks so you should ignore messages that contain links from people you don't on Facebook or in your email. Once installed, Trojan dropper downloads and drops the rogue antispyware program called Windows Safety Maintenance onto your computer and which later automatically starts a fake system scan. The scan results are of course completely false, so you may safely ignore them. What is more, this fake anti-spyware program may detect harmless or even legitimate Windows files as infections in order to validate the scan results or to trick you into believing that you are infected. The main goal of this virus is to scare you into purchasing the program. Please don't do that. Instead, use the removal guide below to remove Windows Safety Maintenance from your computer upon detection using legitimate malware removal software.

While running, Windows Safety Maintenance will display numerous fake security alerts and notifications statings that you are infected. Some of those fake alerts will state:

Error
Keylogger activity detected. System information security is at risk.
It is recommended to activate protection and run a full system scan.

Error
Software without a digital signature detected.
Your system files are at risk. We strongly advise you to activate your protection.

Windows Safety Maintenance will also block antivirus software and hijack Internet Explorer and some other web browsers in order to protect itself from being removed. It will also modify Windows Hosts file and redirect you to various boguswebsites that promote rogue programs or advertise malicious services. As you can see, it's nothing more but a scam. Don't pay for it. Please read the removal guide below to find out how to remove Windows Safety Maintenance from your computer using malware removal tools listed below. If you have already purchased this bogus software, please contact your credit card company and dispute the charges.
