Wyyo.com virus Removal Guide

What is Wyyo.com virus?

Wyyo.com should not be set as your default search engine

Wyyo.com is a deceptive website[1] that promises to provide users with a fast and precise Web search service[2]. Despite the positive description, this program is known as a browser hijacker that takes control over the browser in order to deliver sponsored links.

This potentially unwanted program (PUP)[3] usually spreads bundled with various free programs as an optional component. Frankly speaking, users rarely choose to use this service themselves. Most of the time, Wyyo.com hijack browsers without asking for a straightforward permission.

So-called the Wyyo.com virus has lots of negative features. Over time, the nasty qualities, like the never-ending redirects [4] and promotion of affiliate ads simply become impossible to ignore. What is more, it might alter search results and provide sponsored links at the top of first search results page.

This tool uses its database and does not rely on any legitimate search provider. Thus, it’s easy for developers to include third-party links and profit from clicks on them. One of the primary purposes of this tool is to generate advertising-based revenue.

Needless to say, developers of such programs are not very open about their identities and choose to keep them private. You can see the same tendency with Wyyo.com as well. The site creators provide fake credentials, which means there is no way for the users to receive customer service or report problems. Would you ever trust such a company? Most likely no.

Naturally, there is no reason to keep using the services provided by such shady parties as well. Don’t hesitate. Remove Wyyo.com from your PC – we are sure you will find some more reliable search provider to replace it. You should be able to get rid of the hijacker quite easily using FortectIntego or similar antivirus software.

If you keep this program for a while, you might also run into another problem. The hijacker is also tracking non-personally identifiable information. According to the Privacy Policy, it collects IP address, search terms, and similar browsing-related data. What is more, some data might be shared with partners. Thus, Wyyo.com removal will also help to protect your data from unknown third-party companies.

The PUP might hijack the Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox and other browsers after inattentive freeware installation

Like with most browser hijackers, you will probably encounter Wyyo.com hijack when installing freeware or shareware packages. The program will probably be hidden within Quick or Recommended installation settings which the regular users tend to ignore.

However, if you choose the longer path and install the downloaded content through the Advanced mode, you may have an excellent chance of avoiding WYYO and other potentially unwanted programs from accessing your computer. When installing new programs under custom settings, you should:

  • not rush to click “Next” button;
  • carefully read the information provided in each of the steps;
  • deselect third-party toolbars, browser extensions, and other programs;
  • not agree to make unknown search tool as your default one.

The hijacker mostly aims at English-speaking computer users. However, it doesn’t mean that this or other PUPs cannot infiltrate devices located in Netherlands,[5] Germany or Japan. Thus, you should be careful with freeware installation no matter where you live.

Elimination of the Wyyo.com virus

You will be able to remove Wyyo.com like any regular computer program; its elimination is not as difficult as it may seem. You may even do it manually if you have the time and trust your skills.

Nevertheless, we do not advise wasting your time when you can invest it somewhere else. You will achieve Wyyo.com removal much quicker if you choose the specialized tools to do it.
