RegFreeze

RegFreeze is a corrupt anti-spyware program illegally installed to user computers through malicious advertisements and via certain exploits. Although this application does not produce false positives, really finds and eliminates some spyware and adware parasites, it still is not effective enough to provide reliable protection of user privacy and system security.

We have carefully tested RegFreeze on several computers including absolutely clean machines and PCs infected with different parasites. Test results revealed that the program is able to detect some components of widely spread threats. However, it misses a lot of other critical objects and does not recognize even the infamous pests such as SpyFalcon. Scan reports rarely provide the full list of objects that need to be removed in order to completely get rid of certain infections. In simple phrase, RegFreeze will actually delete a few malicious components, but not eliminate the whole parasite. This makes the application almost useless.

The free version refuses to remove any malware it finds. It asks to register and purchase the full product. Furthermore, many useful tools are also disabled. Most Registry Guards and real-time monitoring features are not available. We also did not like the fact that RegFreeze scans only the main system disk (in our case it was C:) and ignores files located elsewhere.

RegFreeze is illegally distributed with the help of dangerous parasites, malicious advertisements and certain exploits. In our opinion, RegFreeze's vendor and its affiliates must be held fully responsible for such issues. We have already received user complaints stating that their computers are infected with the parasites related to RegFreeze. Those threats display hijack the desktop and asks the user to purchase RegFreeze.
