SpywareHospital review
SpywareHospital produces false positives. We have scanned the registry, memory and each hard disk of an absolutely clean system. The application found one harmful registry key (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\ed2k) related to the BearShare adware made by ElbitVlash, Inc. However, further analysis showed that a reported entry actually is installed and used by eMule, which is a fully legitimate file sharing program and does not pose any security or privacy threat. BearShare, the advertising-supported peer-to-peer application, was never installed to our test system. See a screenshot provided below.
During our tests we have noticed some SpywareHospital performance and usability issues. First of all, SpywareHospital consumes too much system resources. On our test PCs it used up to 92 MB of memory. Secondly, the application does not report that a system scan is finished. It displays a message "Diagnosting files, dll-s finished." instead, but actually does nothing and never correctly ends a scan.
The program's free version refuses to remove any parasites it finds. It asks to register and purchase full commercial version.
SpywareHospital is a clone of The Spyware Detective, Adware Nuker, PC AdWare SpyWare Remover, Websafe Spyware Secure, Super Spyware Remover and others. It has a similar interface, uses the same spyware definitions database and produces identical scan results.
The official web site is www.spywarehospital.com. It lacks an adequate information about the product and its vendor and contains no privacy policy. The license agreement, which comes with SpywareHospital, is not informative enough.
We DO NOT recommend to purchase and use SpywareHospital.
