We have tested free version of The Spyware Detective on clean computer. All hard disks, the Windows registry, memory and cookies were scanned. Report contained one file related to UCmore adware and one registry entry associated with BearShare adware. Deep analysis showed that detected executable unwise.exe belongs to fully legitimate product - iolo System Mechanic 5 Professional. This file is used to properly uninstall the application. It cannot harm the system and definitely is not an adware. The real UCmore adware is UCmore XP search accelerator for Internet Explorer web browser. It is a toolbar that displays certain links and advertisements. It has nothing in common with iolo software. Found registry entry HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Classes\ed2k belongs to harmless eMule peer-to-peer program. BearShare file sharing application was never installed to our test system. Apparently The Spyware Detective uses false positives. See screenshot below.
Free version doesn't remove any malware it found and asks to register and purchase full product. It also doesn't provide updates.
