I accepted a friendship from some I thought I knew then I received a message in messenger telling I was a winner a I needed to register in 15 min but at the top it showed connecting in red letters. My computer started to slow down to where I was not able to open any pages. I instantly did a full scan virus and got into the facebook acct and blocked the new friendship and noticed there were two and I only accepted 1. Turned off the computer and turned it back on and the computer has been working almost as before. Also when I opened EDGE the page was changed. My question is could there be a virus, trojen or etc. still on the computer and what else can I do to make sure it is gone. Thank you ! Tanya

Messenger is one of the most popular communication apps, and it is not a secret that cybercriminals use the platform to scam users into providing their login details or installing malware on the PC.
If you have not clicked on any links within the message you received, entered any personal details on sites you were redirected to, your computer should be safe. We recommend scanning it with alternative anti-malware software, just to be safe.
You should unfriend the individual who sent you the suspicious message immediately. As a precautionary measure, you should change your Facebook password.
The Edge issue is not likely to be related to the suspicious messages on your Messanger. You should clean your Edge by deleting suspicious extensions and deleting browser data/cache - you can find the instructions in our ME Edge virus article.
Good luck,
