I got a call from a supposed hp assistant. I initiated the conversation I had stupidly given him my phone number in a chat box. He had me go to www.helpme.net Do I need to remove any spyware now and does he have access to the info on my computer? I’m nervous! I’m thinking it was a scam He tried to sell me an anti-virus product Help!

Yes, you are right, all unsolicited claims coming from "tech support" via the phone or a pop-up notification via your web browser are fake. Please never give in to claims that something is broken, needs fixing, and similar when you receive a call from a "tech support."
When talking about your situation, if you allowed the crook to access your computer, there might be malware installed on it. Therefore, you should immediately perform a full system scan to ensure that no keylogger or similar malware is installed on your computer. Then, reset all your passwords (and never reuse them) for your email, online banking, social media, and all the other accounts you store on your computer.
