It has been recently revealed that Pokemon Yellow game, actively distributed on the Apple’s App store, is bogus. Though there were numerous notes clearly complaining about its problems and crashes, the first one who paid a closer look at this game and finally reported it for Apple was blogger Brian Ashcroft. He saw more problems with this app, not only the fact that this app was released by a third-party developer Home of Anime but not by Nintendo.
The fact that Pokemon Yellow has been approved by Apple, rises big concerns about the App approval and control processes.
However, it seems that Nintendo’s business strategy should also be discussed because it seems to be different from the one its fans would love. This can be clearly seen after looking at Pokemon Yellow’s distribution rates before it was stopped – it not only reached No. 2 on Apple’s App Store charts but also grabbed around $10,000 from its victims before it was removed from the App Store.
Nintendo company clearly declares that it has no interest in extending its game franchises into Facebook or smartphones and has simply shut down these areas.
