What is SaiMfd.exe? Should I remove it?

by Jake Doevan - -

SaiMfd.exe is a non-system process which is associated with SST (Saitek Smart Technology) configuration software for Saitek game controllers. This process is simply installed by the same user and located in C:\Program Files subfolder. Typically to most of the system and non-system processes, saimfd.exe is loaded during the Windows boot process but it has no visible window.

You shouldn’t terminate saimfd.exe if you are using Saitek controller. It is truly legitimate process that can safely be kept on the system. However, if you find it useless, you have to remove the entire program Saitek SST Programming Software or Saitek SD6 Programming in order to eliminate SaiMfd.exe.

Some malware might rename itself to saimfd.exe in order to hide its presence on the computer. So, always make sure that this process is located in C:\Program Files subfolder and remove the file if it has different location. For that we highly recommend running a full system scan with anti-malware program which will help you to find all infections under saimfd.exe name.
