What is soundman.exe? Should I remove it?

by Jake Doevan - -

soundman.exe is a legitimate file, which belongs to Realtek Avance Logic Sound cards. It provides system tray access to a variety of settings and allows people to change the settings of the associated hardware or manage input and output lines on the sound card. However, the most of PC users do not reconfigure their sound cards very often, so you can easily disable soundman.exe if you want to. This will prevent this file from starting automatically. Of course, if you use S/PDIF interface and need to reconfigure your sound card from time to time, we highly suggest you to leave Sound Manager running on your computer. Located in “C:WINDOWS” on Windows 95/98/ME/XP and “C:WINNT” on Windows 2000/XP.

Any malware can be named anything for trying to hide it deep inside the system. If you noticed soundman.exe in other, not in C:WINDOWS or C:WINNT, folder, you should check the trustworthiness of this file. For that we recommend using RegCure Pro.
