Computer users have recently started reporting about GpCode – Trojan which was detected in 2004 by Kaspersly Lab, but now seems to have renewed its activity in order to follow new commands of scammers.
GpCode is a type of malware which is very dangerous and aggressive because it may damage your computer’s system and steal your personal information. In fact, unlikely the previous variants, it won’t delete files after encryption but will overwrite them in order to make data-recovery software useless.
If you guess that GpCode may have infected your machine, it is highly recommend not changing anything on your file system. You can try rebooting your computer. These announcements claiming that you need to decrypt txt-file are fake because any time-based file deleting mechanism hasn’t been noticed yet. GpCode claims:
ALL YOUR PERSONAL FILES WERE ENCRYPTED WITH A STRONG ALGORYTHM RSA-1024 AND YOU CAN’T GET AN ACCESS TO THEM WITHOUT MAKING OF WHAT WE NEED!
READ HOW TO ‘DECRYPT’ TXT-FILE ON YOUR DESKTOP FOR DETAILS
JUST DO IT AS SOON AS YOU CAN!
REMEMBER – DON’T TRY TO TELL SOMEONE ABOUT THIS MESSAGE IF YOU WANT TO GET YOUR FILES BACK! JUST DO ALL WE TOLD.
Remember, first of all you MUST be careful when browsing the web because it’s easier to avoid such scams than eliminating them and their consequences. If you have this trojan GpCode, you will definitely see its warnings on your screen.
