What is CoupSeek?

CoupSeek (owned by CoupSeek Inc.) is a browser add-on that can be added to Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Internet Explorer, Safari and other less popular web browsers. The service of this program might seem really helpful for those who prefer online shopping because CoupSeek is introduced as a “coupon marketplace”, which may inform about the latest deals and discounts. In order to keep people informed, it promises to deliver pop-up, pop-under, banner, in-text, and full-page ads filled with commercial offers. Unfortunately, no matter how useful this app may seem for you at first, you have to keep in mind that it’s yet another adware and a potentially unwanted program (PUP) that may annoy you to death and may try to make you visit suspicious websites continuously. Be aware that all types of CoupSeek ads are extremely annoying. They may seriously disrupt your browsing activities because it may become difficult to hover the mouse on the content that you which to view without clicking on the ‘Ads by CoupSeek’. Even worse is the fact that every click causes redirects to third-party websites, which may appear to be unknown online shopping websites, certain service offering websites or really suspicious domains that may be associated with malware or PUP distribution. So, if you want to prevent infiltration of other suspicious apps, we highly recommend you to prevent CoupSeek redirects in advance. By the way, we recommend you to remove this adware with the help of a reputable anti-spyware (e.g. Reimage Reimage Cleaner Intego) in order to make sure that you remove tracking software that it may use for collecting non-personally identifiable information and that other suspicious programs are also removed.

How can CoupSeek hijack my computer?

CoupSeek is commonly distributed using ‘bundling’. It means that this dubious adware may be bundled with other freewares and sharewares. Therefore, in order to stay safe, you should always pay an appropriate amount of attention to the installation process of free programs. Whenever you decide to install a freeware, you should start from reading EULA and Privacy Policy of your selected program. If you find nothing suspicious about it, make sure that you select Advanced or Custom installation option and carefully check every check box. Do you known what you should specifically be looking for? In fact, you should look for check boxes that promote ‘optional downloads’, such as various browser add-ons, plug-ins, toolbars, and extensions. Be aware that CoupSeek virus may be surrounded by other potentially unwanted programs, such as Hard Case, Shopper Pro, Roaming Rate and many others. Therefore, you may have to opt out of them all. Unfortunately, if CoupSeek ads have already showed up out of nowhere, then probably you have also installed other PUPs and need to remove as well. For that, try reading this guide:

Access your website securely from any location

When you work on the domain, site, blog, or different project that requires constant management, content creation, or coding, you may need to connect to the server and content management service more often. It is a hassle when your website is protected from suspicious connections and unauthorized IP addresses.

The best solution for creating a tighter network could be a dedicated/fixed IP address. If you make your IP address static and set to your device, you can connect to the CMS from any location and do not create any additional issues for server or network manager that need to monitor connections and activities. This is how you bypass some of the authentications factors and can remotely use your banking accounts without triggering suspicious with each login.

VPN software providers like Private Internet Access can help you with such settings and offer the option to control the online reputation and manage projects easily from any part of the world. It is better to clock the access to your website from different IP addresses. So you can keep the project safe and secure when you have the dedicated IP address VPN and protected access to the content management system.

Backup files for the later use, in case of the malware attack

Computer users can suffer from data losses due to cyber infections or their own faulty doings. Ransomware can encrypt and hold files hostage, while unforeseen power cuts might cause a loss of important documents. If you have proper up-to-date backups, you can easily recover after such an incident and get back to work. It is also equally important to update backups on a regular basis so that the newest information remains intact – you can set this process to be performed automatically.

When you have the previous version of every important document or project you can avoid frustration and breakdowns. It comes in handy when malware strikes out of nowhere. Use Data Recovery Pro for the data restoration process.
