Important things to know about AxCrypter ransomware

The security experts have recently found a completely fresh cyber threat called the AxCrypter virus. Even though at this point the knowledge about this malicious program is rather limited, it has already been indicated that AxCrypter is a ransomware-type virus. Knowing, how other programs of this particular category function, we can make presumptions about this virus as well. Ransomware viruses are known for infiltrating the users computers stealthily, which significantly diminishes the chances of being spotted and neutralized at the early stages of the infiltration. However, the most important characteristic of such programs is data encryption. Once get on the computer, they start scanning it for files and encrypting them with very complex, military grade algorithms, such as RSA and AE. Data encrypted with such algorithms becomes inaccessible to the victim. You might expect similar behavior from AxCrypter as well. Therefore, it is important to delete it from your computer as soon as you notice any signs of infection. You can use Reimage virus-fighting utility to inspect your system for malware and, if needed, remove AxCrypter from the computer.

Questions about AxCrypter

Most of the ransomware viruses, when they are done scanning and encrypting files, create additional files in every folder of the computer containing the infected data, in which they introduce the victim with his/her current situation and explain how the locked files can be retrieved. Usually, the victims are asked to pay a considerable sum of cash in exchange for the data decryption key. The cyber criminals demand the money to be transferred in a virtual format BitCoins or CryptoCoins and only via anonymous networks, to avoid having their identities exposed. If AxCrypter or any other ransomware infects your system, do not purchase the decryption key because it does not guarantee your files will be returned. In fact, most of the time, the victims get scammed twice and lose not only their files but their money as well. Therefore, it is wiser to choose the AxCrypter removal from the system. It may not help you retrieve your data, but at least you will be able to use your computer as usual again.

How can I protect my data from ransomware viruses?

There are multiple ways of protecting data from viruses like AxCrypter. The key, however, is regular data backups. By storing your data on some remote drives, you can be sure that it will inaccessible to malicious code and will not be encrypted. You will be able to recover the data when the virus is completely removed from your computer. Also, the system’s stability is very important for keeping your computer virus-free. You should schedule regular system updates and clean the computer from unnecessary junk files. Finally, you should always keep your antivirus updated and ready to fight off unwanted malware.

Tips on AxCrypter virus removal:

Even though ransomware viruses are considered very dangerous, their removal does not necessarily have to be difficult. If you obtain a professional antivirus system, the AxCrypter removal can be accomplished in minutes. However, the ransomware is considered dangerous for a reason. It might try to prevent your antivirus from scanning the system, so the virus uninstall might fail. If such situation occurs, please check out the instructions provided below. After following the indicated steps, try initiating the scan once again. Only when you remove AxCrypter from your computer, you can try recovering your files.
