BlockProtector is a rogue anti-spyware application promoted through the use of Trojans that come from fake online scanners, misleading websites or bundled with other malware. This application is from the family of WiniSoft – the name is different, but the graphical user interface remains unchanged. The main goal of Block Protector is to scare you into thinking that your computer is infected with Trojans, spyware or other malware and to convince you into paying for a full version of the program, which by the way doesn’t even exist. BlockProtector uses false scan results and fake security alerts to achieve its goals. Most importantly, do not purchase this bogus program. Instead, uninstall BlockProtector from your computer as soon as possible. Otherwise, it may download additional malware onto your PC and make the situation more complicated.
What is more, BlockProtector will impersonate Windows Security Center and state that your anti-virus software is disabled and you should activate Block Protector to ensure full system protections. Of course, this is a scam. The legitimate Windows Security Center does not promote any anti-virus software. But the fake one does. Furthermore, the rogue program will display fake security alerts and notifications claiming that your computer is under attack. On of the fake alerts states:
Actually, this fake alert was used by almost all rogue applications from the WiniSoft family. Please also note that this malware uses browser and desktop hijacking. It also blocks security software and Windows OS system tools, such as Task Manager and System Restore. If you are infected with this virus, please use the removal guide below to remove BlockProtector from your PC manually for free.
