Clixtrac.com is a potentially unwanted program promoted as a unique service that can be used by advertisers and similar publishers. This is a program designed to send visitors to rogue sites and deliver commercial content on the screen. This behavior is focused on generating revenue for the publisher, and due to this relation with commercial content creators, information collected by this adware is stored on the remote server and can be shared with questionable third-party companies.

This is a potentially unwanted program that can be categorized as adware because of the intrusive commercial content regularly shared on the infected device.[1] The infiltration of the PUP is most likely, initiated during insecure freeware installation because during such process you may get additional programs without even noticing.

Clixtrac.com virus is not a program that affects important parts of the system, but you may notice that this is a persistent threat and you cannot find a specific program to delete manually but you experience frustrating advertisements delivered on the screen directly.

As many other adware-type programs Clixtrac.com affects the performance of your Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Internet Explorer or other browsers. Various redirects and background processes also influence the speed of your device in general. You may notice additional symptoms:

  • Changed appearance of the browser;
  • Pop-up windows delivered on the screen;
  • Banners injected on commonly visited websites;
  • Redirects to rogue websites;
  • Browser content installed out of nowhere.[2]

You should remove Clixtrac.com as soon as you notice any of the upper-mentioned symptoms and questionable redirects. The best solution for this kind of threat is a system cleaning using anti-malware tools like Reimage. A thorough system scan allows detecting all possible intruders and removing them without traces.

Clixtrac.com removal is an important process, and you should perform it as soon as your device gets affected. Data tracking cookies are the main issue besides the frustrating commercial content. This information collecting even addresses on the website:

Make sure to get a reputable anti-malware program and scan the system for the proper Clixtrac.com elimination. Also, you should remember to clean the browser preferences and uninstall additional tools. You can find a few tips for this down below.

Potentially unwanted applications get to be downloaded from deceptive sites

The official website distributes this allegedly useful banner tracking tool and promotes it for customers. Nevertheless, it is not trustworthy or useful. The main technique used to spread these potentially unwanted programs online is software bundles and other deceptive advertisements, websites or download pages.

Software bundles distribute various unwanted programs, tools, and applications because freeware providers pack their products with additional content and distribute these packs via the internet. Most often, these bundles come from p2p services, questionable download websites, and other insecure installations.

Researchers[3] advise opting for Advanced or Custom installations so you can de-select unwanted additional programs from the download list. This way you only get the freeware you needed. However, the best solution for PUP infiltration avoidance is choosing reputable sources every time you install software or update your applications.

Clixtrac.com termination requires a thorough system scan

To remove Clixtrac.com properly, you need to choose a trustworthy anti-malware program and scan the system of your infected device thoroughly. This method gives the best results, especially when you are dealing with silent intruders like adware, browser hijackers and other PUPs.

Perform an automatic Clixtrac.com removal using your tools or choose one from our suggestions and after the full system cleaning, make sure to change browser notification settings and delete all unwanted applications, extensions or tools from the browser or computer.

You can remove virus damage automatically with a help of one of these programs: Reimage, SpyHunterCombo Cleaner, Malwarebytes Malwarebytes.
