What is Commercial Extension Cable?

Commercial Extension Cable is the name of a browser add-on that is promoted as an adware and a potentially unwanted program (PUP). Therefore, if you notice an offer to install this tool somewhere, you should better not accept it. The biggest chances to detect Commercial Extension Cable installer is when installing another freeware (download manager, PDF creator, media player and so on) because it tends to spread via software packages. Do not fully believe in the promises that it is going to inform you about various things related to online shopping, e.g. deals, discounts, coupons, promo codes, etc. because most of the Commercial Extension Cable ads are predetermined, which means that they contain not the most relevant deals for you but include links to affiliate websites that are seldom visited in a normal way. Even more, ‘Ads by Commercial Extension Cable’ are considered as a potential threat because third parties may fill them with whatever content they want. Thus, you may be rerouted not only to unpopular online stores, but may also be forced to visit illegal websites that may be engaged in a virus, malware or PUP distribution.

In addition to that, when speaking about adwares, privacy-related issues have to be discussed. If you have started experiencing Commercial Extension Cable redirects, then most probably that third parties have already started collecting data that is kept on your computer. Don’t worry, with the help of ‘cookies’, which are small files for collecting and storing information, third parties cannot monitor your passwords, credit card details, and similar information. Nevertheless, they may gather your IP address, PC’s location, email address, search terms, websites visited, clicks, and similar information. Be careful because such data may be misused for wrong reasons, so it’s always better to keep it for yourself only.

Finally, the longer you keep Commercial Extension Cable virus installed on your computer, the more your PC’s performance may decrease, the more security vulnerabilities it may increase, the more inconveniences you may experience. Therefore, as soon as you start seeing Commercial Extension Cable ads withing Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox or Internet Explorer, we recommend you to check your computer with a reputable anti-spyware, for example, Reimage (Windows OS) or Webroot SecureAnywhere AntiVirus (Mac OS X).

How can Commercial Extension Cable hijack my computer?

Commercial Extension Cable is one of those apps that may slither onto your computer without being noticed via other freewares and sharewares. Therefore, if you want to stay away from it, you have to monitor installation process of every freeware. Various download managers, PDF creators, media players, and other popular software (usually promoted on such websites as download.com, soft32.com, softonic.com, cnet.com, etc.) are filled with ‘optional downloads’ that cannot be noticed externally. Thus, in order to check the freeware that you opt for installing, you have to select Advanced or Custom installation option, monitor the process step-by-step and opt out of Commercial Extension Cable or other similar programs, such as MinimumPrice, OfferApp, PriceChop, and many others.
