Coupon Printer ads. How to remove? (Uninstall guide)

removal by Jake Doevan - - | Type: Adware

Coupon Printer is a software that belongs to the, mildly saying, group of questionable programs. Technically speaking, it’s ‘adware’ and ‘potentially unwanted program.’ Therefore, if you are a security-minded person, most probably you knew that it’s better to avoid having such apps on the system. The 2-spyware research team conducted a research on it a couple of weeks ago. It has revealed that Coupon Printer adware is powered by Coupons.com Incorporated. It pretends to be a kind of software that presents users with the 10%, 20%, 30%, and even 50% off coupons that can be printed out and applied at retailers stores from coupons(dot)com. Of course, who wouldn’t like increasing the savings? However, it seems that this browser add-on has lots of downsides, so installing it would be a mistake.

What downsides Coupon Printer virus has?

We’ll provide a short excerpt from the official page of Coupon Printer malware, i.e. “The Coupon Printer is required to print coupons from anywhere across the Coupons.com Digitial FSI Network. Look for the “Powered by Coupons.com” logo on your favorite websites, print your coupons, and save at the store!” However, before you fall into believing that this service will satisfy your needs, you should know that this application has already lost the popularity due to the following reasons:

  • This adware is typically spread via software packages, what makes it self-willingly enter computers unrecognized. Usually, it is attached to free software that is spread on peer-to-peer or file sharing websites like Cnet or Softonic.
  • Coupon Printer PUP always spreads bundled with the CouponBar toolbar.
  • Anti-malware programs have detected malware in this app.

Coupon Printer adware

  • The coupons that it displays may become a serious headache due to a massive flow. The longer you keep this tool, the more advertisements (pop-up ads, banner ads, interstitial, video ads, new tab ads, etc.) you may start receiving. In most of the instances, they are tagged with a logo “Powered by Coupons.com.” However, you may also find some of them marked as “Ads by Coupon Printer” or “ Coupon Printer Ads.”
  • In some of the cases, Coupon Printer redirect can pose harm to your PC’s security. That’s because the affiliates of this app are not only reliable parties like Walmart, Shutterfly or Overstock. There is just a small part. Some of the ads you may receive during browsing sessions may not be related to coupons or may look shady, so it’s better not to click on them to prevent the risk of landing on a malicious web page.
  • This ad-supported extension starts with Windows startup, runs several processes, and can seriously diminish web browser’s performance.
  • Lastly, it is accused of unauthorized usage of tracking cookies.

All in all, if you have installed this app either via the official page or software bundle, our recommendation would be to render a professional anti-malware and delete Coupon Printer extension right away! For this purpose, you can trust Reimage.

How to prevent Coupon Printer hijack?

As noted above, Coupon Printer installs web browsers (IE, Firefox, Chrome, Safari) in a bundle with free software. It means that you have to take precautionary measures when installing free programs to protect your machine from unwanted installers. For this purpose, you should always check Advanced/Custom installation option, verify the content of each check box, and if it contains some ‘additional components,’ unmark them before hitting the ‘Next’ button. This simple method should block PUPs from entering your machine.
