CS ads. How to remove? (Uninstall guide)
What is CS?
CS (also can be found as CS Browser Assistant) is an untrustworthy application, to say the least. In fact, it’s yet another dubious adware that may flood your web browser with sponsored advertisements in order to make you click on them and help its affiliates earn easy money. It is compatible with the most popular web browsers, including Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Internet Explorer, and Safari; therefore, it may start providing you with pop-up, pop-under, banner, ads, in-text links, interstitial, and other forms of commercial content that may be filled with a really attractive content, e.g. various deals, discounts, and coupons relevant to the items that you were recently looking for. However, you should NOT trust the appealing look of the ‘Ads by CS’ because they may contain links to unknown domains or may even promote other software. In the worst case scenario, CS redirects can make you visit corrupted websites and trick into installing a virus on your computer. Fortunately, statistically such instances are comparatively rare.
Since this all is mainly used for advertising purposes, it has been categorized as an ‘adware’. In addition to that, it also belongs to the potentially unwanted program (PUP) category since it tends to infiltrate computers without warning its users appropriately. Usually, it travels bundled with various freewares and sharewares. Its installer may be disclosed via the installation of a freeware but in a misleading manner in order to make inattentive users install CS virus without even realizing that. Therefore, whenever you decide to install a freeware, make sure that you monitor its installation wizard from the beginning till the end. Otherwise, you may start receiving tens of CS ads, experience unwanted redirects, slowdowns and other issues that may seriously disrupt your browsing activities. In addition, this adware may also not ask your authorization to collect information stored in your computer. Once installed, it may drop cookies on each of your web browsers and start collecting data related to your browsing habits whether you want that or not. That’s why we highly recommend you to remove CS virus from the system right away. For that, you can use Reimage (Windows OS), Webroot SecureAnywhere AntiVirus (Mac OS X) or another reputable anti-spyware.
How can CS hijack my computer?
CS adware does not have the official website, so it’s obvious that it’s distributed indirectly. According to our security experts, it’s developers support freeware developers for the ability to attach this adware alongside their products, such as download managers, PDF creators, media players and so on. Therefore, the biggest chances to end up with CS virus on your computer is to install a freeware from such well-known websites as download.com, soft32.com, cnet.com, etc. without checking the installation process. To prevent this happening, you should always choose Advanced or Custom installation option and monitor the entire process step-by-step. The most important thing is to uncheck ticks saying that you agree to install CS or its counterparts, such as Deal Fairy, ConnectSo Toolbar, Surftastic, and so on. If you think that you just failed to do so, then follow these steps and get rid of all suspicious programs from your computer:
