Games Junkies is a product of APN, LLC. This company has also released several other potentially unwanted programs PUPs). Games Junkies is an adware, and it means that this program has a rogue appearance. It pretends to be a legitimate application that is supposed to provide shortcuts to computer games, but in reality it only functions to advertise its sponsors. Such sponsors are usually third-party companies, which seek to make their web sites more popular. They want to achieve greater amounts of visitors browsing through their websites, so they pay for adware developers to promote these sites. As a result, inexperienced PC users who have never heard of Games Junkies adware become victims of this potentially unwanted program, because it is able to enter computer systems seamlessly.

How does Games Junkies adware work?

Games Junkies PUP can initiate various arbitrary activities on your computer. It can install its extensions and also its toolbar to your web browser and monitor your browsing activity, such as what websites do you visit, what do you download or install on your PC, and also your search queries. Such data is collected in order to predict your interests and your needs. As a result, this program selects advertisements from its server and starts displaying them for you. You will receive banners, pop-ups or in-text link ads that will suggest various “great” offers. Be attentive because most of these ads by Games Junkies are misleading and may end you up on questionable websites.

Be very careful and avoid clicking on Games Junkies ads. The websites that you may be redirected to can offer you a wide range of different applications that can be infectious or contain malicious files. Moreover, Games Junkies ads will slow down your PC as they use computer resources to load themselves up. If you do not want to expose your system to potential risks or experience other unpleasant effects, you should install an anti-spyware program that can block the entrance of your PC for potentially unwanted programs. We recommend Reimage for that.

How can I prevent Games Junkies and similar programs?

Games Junkies is distributed via two methods – either via its official website or with other freeware or shareware. The second method occurs much more frequently. It is a rogue distribution method called bundling. It means that Games Junkies is spread when being attached to legitimate free programs. That is why you have to be very cautious when installing new programs to your computer because no one is going to notify clearly you about such bonus attachments. You should rely only on yourself and check if there are any unexpected attachments by checking the installation settings. Change the “default” or “standard” or “basic” installation option to “advanced” or “custom” and then look for unfamiliar statements. You should receive a list of statements that suggest installing optional downloads, so refuse such offers by deselecting them. That is basically all you need to do to prevent PUPs.

Does anyone know how can I secure my computer once and forever? Is this suggested app called SpyHunter is really reliable? Or should I look for other security methods?
