Great Defender (or GreatDefender) is a rogue anti-spyware program and a clone of The Defend, RESpyWare, Sys Defence and some other recently released rogues. Disguised as a legitimate spyware removal tool, Great Defender makes its way to the system with a help of Trojans that camouflage themselves as video codecs or flash updates. By using Trojans viruses, program also manages to reconfigure the registry and creates fake random files which later the same scam detects as infections.
Once inside and active, additionally Great Defender floods the user with pop-up ads and fake system tray notifications. At each start up this malware imitates scanning actions and informs the user about the same infections which were created earlier:
All the information generated by Great Defender is completely false but it usually does the misleading job and makes people think that an anti-spyware program is urgently needed. The first security program offered for him is, of course, the commercial version of Great Defender which is claimed to defend every computer against cyber threats.
