removal by Ugnius Kiguolis - -   Also known as HDDDefragmenter | Type: Spyware

HDD Defragmenter is a rogue computer error repair and optimization tool that reports fake Windows registry errors, hard drive and memory problems. This fake program is from the same family as System Defragmenter. It will pretend to scan your hard drives and memory for problems. Then it will list numerous problems and will prompt you to buy a license of HDD Defragmenter in order to fix the errors. In reality, though, these errors and problems do not even exist. HDD Defragmenter uses a typical scheme on how to scare users into thinking that their computers are infected with malware or has some sort of errors/problems. Do not fall victim to this rogue program and do not purchase it. If you find that your computer is infected then please use the removal instructions outlined below.

HDDDefragmenter can be removed from the computer either manually or with an automatic removal tool given below. One way or another, you will have to end the main processes of this rogue program first. Otherwise, you won't be able to delete the files or use our removal tool. You need to open task manager or Process Explorer and end the following processes: winsp1up.exe and [random].exe. If you can do this in normal mode then reboot your computer in safe mode with networking and try again. Once installed, HDD Defragmenter will display a fake a error message with the following text:

System Error!
Exe file is corrupted and can't be run. Hard drive scan required.
Scan Hard Drive

It will even state that your hard drive is missing. Some examples of the fake problems it detects on your computer are:

32% of HDD space is unreadable
Bad sectors on hard drive or damaged file allocation table
GPU RAM temperature is critically high. Urgent RAM memory optimization is required to prevent system crash

What is more, it will display fake warnings from your Windows taskbar.

We had this come up on one of our computers after clicking on a “Free Trial of Windows 7”. It was a nightmare to get rid of, so be VERY careful with it! We had to use our McAfee, Spybot, and Malwarebytes to get rid of it. It kept our computer off line for 3 days while trying to resolve. Bad stuff!
