What is Payeer virus?
Payeer virus is a cyber threat, which has just showed up. It is closely related to Windows Security virus or Defru virus and it is used for stealing people's money. According to the latest news, this malicious program is mostly spread in Russian-speaking countries but you can never be sure that it won't start spreading in other world's countries. As it name suggests, Payeer virus is closely related to a Russian e-wallet Payeer that can be used for making payments, exchanging the money and other purposes. However, it seems that scammers have also decided to use it for their dirty business and have involved it for collecting illegal payments for their fake anti-virus. In most of the cases, people are tricked into making $4.75 payment after being convinced that their computers are infected. Payeer virus is one of those programs that display continuous alerts about various cyber infections, such as trojans, browser hijackers and similar viruses. Of course, you should never believe these warnings because they are misleading and fake. Payeer virus displays them only for making you pay for its licensed version and helping its creators (hackers) earn the money. By the way, Payeer virus is not a typical rogue. It mostly shows up when people are trying to reach their favorite websites. If you noticed that instead of the website that you wanted to reach you see a scanner that reports about various viruses, you should ignore it and check your computer for Payeer virus.
How can Payeer virus infect my computer?
Payeer virus is one of those viruses that are spread using spam and drive-by downloads. If you want to prevent its infiltration, here's what you have to remember: This virus is actively spread using fake alerts that offer people to update their programs. You may be warned that your Java, Flash Player or other program is outdated and that you can update it for free. Unfortunately, once you click 'update' or 'download' button, you infect your computer with this or other virus. In addition, Payeer virus may try to infect your PC thru misleading email. In most of the cases, such mails claim that they were sent to you by serious and well known companies, such as banks, e-shops and similar parties. They also include e-mail attachment that looks like a seriously important document. Of course, it's the one that infects your computer.. Please, be very careful with seriously-looking mails if you want to avoid Payeer virus. Otherwise, you may be tricked into purchasing a fake licensed version of Windows Security or other fake antivirus. It is known that this virus drops w1ndows_b456.exe or similar executable file once it infiltrates computer. If you noticed such or similar file running in your Task Manager, don't waste your time and scan your computer with reputable anti-spyware program.
How to remove Payeer virus?
As we have already mentioned, Payeer virus is closely related to Windows Security rogue anti-spyware. Please, do not believe any of these programs because they are fake and are used only for stealing people's money. If you see a notification from Windows Security that reports about various cyber threats (trojans, adware, hijackers) and you know that you have never installed this program on your computer, you must do something. In order to remove Payeer virus from your PC system, you have two options – manual removal or automatic removal. Manual removal steps are given below but, in fact, we don't recommend using them if you don't have an appropriate amount of knowledge about computers and their architecture. If you are inexperienced PC user, you may remove wrong files and initiate more serious problems on your computer. In this case, you should choose automatic removal of Payeer virus. For that you need to download any of these programs: Reimage, Plumbytes Anti-MalwareWebroot SecureAnywhere AntiVirus,Malwarebytes Anti Malware. Make sure you update them to their latest versions and run a full system scan.
Manual Payeer virus removal:
1. Click Start -> All Programs -> Accessories.
2. Now right-click on Notepad and select Run as administrator.
3. Open the Hosts file and delete the unnecessary entries that end with 127.0.0.1 localhost and ::1 localhost.
For eliminating malicioys executable file (w1ndows_[4 characters]):
1. Reboot your computer to Safe Mode
2. Now open the AppData directory and remove all malicious files that are related to Payeer cyber threat.
