ProtectedIO. How to remove? (Uninstall guide)
What is ProtectedIO?
ProtectedIO is a suspicious application that promises people to protect their computers from “trojans, viruses and identity theft, without anti-virus software.” Unfortunately, we doubt about such a service since the Internet is full of users comments who reports about various issues that have started on their computer after installing this app. First of all, you have to beware that this app has recently been categorized as an adware and a potentially unwanted program (PUP) due to the fact that it may deliver tons of commercial advertisements on all most popular web browsers, including Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, and Internet Explorer. Be careful since 'Ads by ProtectedIO' may be delivered not only for commercial purposes. Of course, most of them are used for promoting affiliate websites, increase their rank, sales and so on. However, some of the ads may be linked to suspicious websites filled with questionable or even malicious content. Therefore, ProtectedIO redirects may even lead to virus or malware infiltration. Isn't it paradoxical? On the one hand, this app claims to secure your computer without even using an anti-spyware. O the other hand, it may redirect you to suspicious websites where your PC may be exposed to various cyber threats. Even more, ProtectedIO virus may even track you and your online activities. Despite its developers claim that this adware does not collect personally identifiable information, you should be careful since no one guarantees that cyber criminals won't exploit it and misuse the cookies for wrong reasons. Finally, we have also found users reports claiming that after installing ProtectedIO adware their homepage and search engine have been changed to search.protectedio.com. This way, your search sessions may be monitored and you may continuously received paid search results. To avoid various issues that this adware may cause on your PC, we recommend to eliminate it as soon as possible. For that, try using Reimage.
How can ProtectedIO hijack my computer?
ProtectedIO may infiltrate your computer without asking your permission directly. It may do that with the help of other freewares and sharewares. When programs are distributed via other free software, they are said to be distributed using 'bundling'. Unfortunately, such method is not fair and frequently tricks people into installing lots of suspicious programs on their computers. If you want to prevent installing various suspicious browser add-ons, plug-ins, toolbars or extensions, you should start checking every freeware before installing it. It's very important to read it's EULA and Privacy Policy since these sections frequently inform about third-party sponsorship, cookies, and other suspicious issues. By the way, you should always select Advanced or Custom installation option and carefully monitor the entire installation process. If you select Quick/Basic/Recommended installation, you may not be allowed to select or deselect anything; therefore, make sure that you do not select any of these options. Security experts warn that 'optional downloads' are always set by default; therefore, you have to be very careful in order to opt out of them. ProtectedIO virus needs to be removed from the system without any delay.
How to remove ProtectedIO virus?
ProtectedIO ads may be eliminated from the system manually or automatically. No matter which method you will choose, remember that automatic removal is more reliable and may clean your PC from all PUPs that may be hiding inside.
You can remove virus damage automatically with a help of one of these programs: Reimage, Malwarebytes MalwarebytesCombo Cleaner, Plumbytes Anti-MalwareMalwarebytes Malwarebytes.
