Remove RinoReader ads

removal by Ugnius Kiguolis - -   Also known as Ads by RinoReader, RinoReader virus, RinoReader adware | Type: Adware

What is RinoReader?

RinoReader is a free application, which is promoted as ‘a lightweight, straightforward PDF viewer using a clear interface.‘ It’s developers (MC Software Inc.) claims that it’s virus and spyware free. Fortunately, we cannot disagree with that. However, it has been categorized as an adware and a potentially unwanted program (PUP). It’s stated that RinoReader may be distributed either bundled with third party software or as an independent software. In addition to that, its developers notify in the Privacy Policy that the application may collect some pieces of personally and non-personally identifiable information about you. For example, in order to identify you, RinoReader may collect your name, phone, address, search history, browsing history, IP address, approximate geolocation and so on. Do you think that disclosing such data to third parties is safe? Of course, it’s not! Even more, RinoReader virus may also provide you with third-party content during your browsing. It has been found that it may display various links and ads, which are linked to predetermined third-party websites. Be careful because the developers of this PDF viewer are not responsible for the content of third-party websites. So, by clicking on any of the ‘Ads by RinoReader’, ‘ RinoReader Ads’, ‘Powered by RinoReader’ and similarly marked messages is at your own risk. Keep in mind that third parties often try to promote various apps or may even spread viruses via their websites. That’s why it’s better to prevent RinoReader redirects in advance. In order to do that, we recommend running a full system scan with ReimageIntego (Windows OS) or Webroot SecureAnywhere AntiVirus (Mac OS X) as soon as you notice an excessive amount of commercial ads or RinoReader.exe running in Task Manager.

How can RinoReader hijack my computer?

As we have already mentioned, security experts have categorized RinoReader as an adware and a potentially unwanted program (PUP). The section above indicates why this app is a typical adware, but do you known why apps are called potentially unwanted? The main reason is deceptive distribution methods. Developers of this app informs that it may be downloaded as an individual app from the official website; however, it may also spread in a package with third-party software. It means that you should carefully check free programs before installing them in order to find out whether they contain additional components or not. Keep in mind that Quick or Basic installation may not allow you to see all check boxes. Therefore, always select Advanced or Custom installation and attentively read all the terms. If you detect offers to install ‘recommended tools’, make sure that you unmark check marks that are checked alongside them. By the way, RinoReader virus may be bundled with other third party apps. Therefore, if you have installed it unconsciously, we recommend you to look for other third party apps, such as Picexa, ShopGlider, Amazon Mini Saver and many others.

Choose a proper web browser and improve your safety with a VPN tool

Online spying has got momentum in recent years and people are getting more and more interested in how to protect their privacy online. One of the basic means to add a layer of security – choose the most private and secure web browser. Although web browsers can't grant full privacy protection and security, some of them are much better at sandboxing, HTTPS upgrading, active content blocking, tracking blocking, phishing protection, and similar privacy-oriented features. However, if you want true anonymity, we suggest you employ a powerful Private Internet Access VPN – it can encrypt all the traffic that comes and goes out of your computer, preventing tracking completely.

Lost your files? Use data recovery software

While some files located on any computer are replaceable or useless, others can be extremely valuable. Family photos, work documents, school projects – these are types of files that we don't want to lose. Unfortunately, there are many ways how unexpected data loss can occur: power cuts, Blue Screen of Death errors, hardware failures, crypto-malware attack, or even accidental deletion.

To ensure that all the files remain intact, you should prepare regular data backups. You can choose cloud-based or physical copies you could restore from later in case of a disaster. If your backups were lost as well or you never bothered to prepare any, Data Recovery Pro can be your only hope to retrieve your invaluable files.
