How effective is Safesearch5.ru?

If you ran into Safesearch5.ru virus, while looking for a way to liven up your browsing experience, note that it is a wrong choice. IT specialists have detected that it is associated with numerous other browser hijackers. For example, it relates to SafeSearch1.ru, SafeSearch4.ru, and MyStartPage4.ru viruses. All of these suspicious programs have been created with the same purpose – generate pay-per-click revenue by promoting third-party partners. We want to point out that such programs are known as browser hijackers because their main target is to modify the settings and force the user to use a particular search engine. In this case, the browser hijacker promotes Safesearch5.ru/start.html search engine. What is more, it assigns this value to browser’s shortcuts, so users who are willing to remove Safesearch5.ru virus manually should not forget to check these and clean particular settings in browser shortcuts, too. All instructions are provided below the article.

As you have noticed, we just identified this program as a redirect virus. There is a reason for that; although the search engine that it promotes looks safe at first sight, in reality, it can pose a threat to your computer system. It presents various sponsored search results that can be entirely different from those related to your search query, and this can annoy you a lot, especially because ads are presented above organic search results. Besides, some of these results can seem attractive, but we do not recommend clicking on them. They can take you to hazardous web places, which might be filled with questionable free files or programs and for sure they are going to be offered to you. Do not install such vague downloads; instead, quit the website that suggests them to you. We would also like to add that Safesearch5.ru hijacker is capable of tracking your search queries, clicks, data such as browsing history, IP address and more, which later on can be shared with third parties for marketing purposes and selection of targeted ads. As we have stated before, these might appear next to regular search results, but can also reach you in the form of pop-ups. Therefore, Safesearch5.ru removal should be carried out as soon as possible. We suggest you use Reimage for that.

Safesearch5.ru browser hijacker

The transmission methods

If Safesearch5.ru redirect is already getting on your nerves, it is high time you eliminated the hijacker from the device. However, it is crucial to know how it spreads in order to prevent the infiltration in the future. You enabled Safesearch5.ru hijack at the moment when you agreed to install some other program using Default or Standard settings. These settings typically contain some requirements to install free third-party software, for example, useless toolbars, add-ons, applications, and similar pieces of software. To drop these unwanted components off, you should pick Custom or Advanced settings for the installation. These settings can be modified very easily. Once you select them, you will see a short list of “recommended downloads” that can be added to the system along with your downloaded software. Deselect these suggestions and continue.

How quickly can I get rid of the PUP?

If your browser settings has been modified, and now you suffer from nerve-wracking redirects, you should remove Safesearch5.ru virus without delay. Just download and install a reputable spyware removal software like Reimage and let it clean the system for you. Alternatively, you can try to uninstall this program manually – we have prepared informative Safesearch5.ru removal guide for that. You can find it under the article.
