According to the latest news, thousands of people have already been infected by this Metropolitan cyber infection, which uses fresh ways for ripping PC users off. Mostly, they are United Kingdom-located people who have been made to think their local police is going to keep them locked down until they pay a 100 £ fine. If you have heard about it, you will know that this ransomware displays a huge alert and tries to mislead its victims that they have been caught doing illegal activities on their computers. In addition, this scam message asks to pay a fine and send code to if user is not capable to unlock his PC after paying. As you can see, helps hackers to steal more money, so don’t trust it!

For unlocking your PC, follow these steps first:

  1. Reboot your computer to a “Safe Mode with Command Prompt”. To do that you need to continuously tap “F8” key on your keyboard, while the computer is booting. This will bring the advanced options menu for Windows, where you can select “Safe Mode with Command Prompt” with keyboard arrow keys and press “Enter”.
  2. Make sure you log in with a user that has administrative privileges (admin).
  3. When the Command Prompt appears, you have about 3 seconds to type “explorer” and hit enter. If you don’t succeed to do that within the 3 seconds, the PRS for Music ransomware will take over your ability to type into the command prompt.
  4. OF you succeeded to open Windows Explorer, open the following folder:
    • Windows XP: C:\windows\system32\restore\rstrui.exe and press Enter
    • Windows Vista/7: C:\windows\system32\rstrui.exe and press Enter
  5. Follow the steps and restore your PC to an earlier time, when you didn’t have the Metropolitan virus installed.
