Websearch.search-mania.info virus should not be underestimated though it works as a browser hijacker. If this website occupied your computer, you might find such behavior exasperating. Once it settles on the computer, it plants its small files to fortify its positions. Due to these files, you might struggle to remove Websearch.search-mania.info quickly if you get bored of this questionable search engine. Moreover, you might be encouraged to do it because the hijacker does not deliver you any search engines at all. Sometimes users might give a hard time differentiating between a browser hijacker a legitimate search provider. Luckily, it is not the case with this PUP. At first glance, the logo used by this hijacker might resemble Google trademark sign. Therefore, some users might mistake this PUP for a reliable search engine. However, the cards are laid on the table when you enter any topic, and you get redirected to the website of WorldSearchPro.com. Contrary to its promoted title, you do not receive any search results. The page remains blank. It seems that the owners of Web Search Mania Info did not concentrate on attracting and retaining their potential users. Most likely, they aim at getting as more website visits as possible.

Such behavior certainly causes suspicion. However, there is one positive aspect of this browser hijacker. Luckily, it does not collect personal information, such as your full name, home address, telephone number or email address. Nevertheless, it does not guarantee the fact that third-parties, whose services they use, will not do so. On the other hand, you should know that the PUP collects your non-personal data (IP address, search queries, and frequent search entries). As stated in the privacy policy, such information might be used for personalizing advertising material. In short, after processing such information, the advertising companies will bombard your browser with customized ads. Due to them and websearch.search-mania.info redirect peculiarity, you might find yourself in an insecure domain.

When did the hijacker take over the device?

It exploited the opportunity to invade the system when you were installing a new application. Freeware and shareware often happen to be a disguise for unwanted programs, such as unknown browser plug-ins, toolbars, hijackers, etc. Inattentive installation of new software often helps similar PUPs to invade the computer without bigger obstacles.
