Has Websearch.searchtheuniverse.info replaced your homepage without asking your permission? Does this search engine generate unreliable search results? Are you constantly being redirected to suspicious web pages that have nothing in common with your search query? Are you wondering why? We are here to answer your questions, and we will help you to fix this issue.

What is Websearch.searchtheuniverse.info and how does it work?

Websearch.searchtheuniverse.info is a typical browser hijacker. This application is considered to be a potentially unwanted program (PUP) because of its activities on the victim’s PC. This program is known for such activities: replacement of the browser’s homepage, modification of browser settings and storing the information about victim’s browsing activities. As you can see, Websearch.searchtheuniverse.info hijacker implements various arbitrary modifications on the user’s computer. Let us explain to you everything in detail.

Websearch.searchtheuniverse.info is a program that is sponsored by third-party companies. Such companies seek to promote their products, so they pay money for the developers of PUPs to advertise their websites. Websearch.searchtheuniverse.info PUP usually slithers into victims’ computers in an indirect way and modifies browser settings – it changes your homepage to Websearch.searchtheuniverse.info. It uses an appearance of a legitimate search engine, but in reality it displays inaccurate search results. Findings by this search engine may be injected with links that can cause Websearch.searchtheuniverse.info redirects to unreliable third-party websites. You should not browse through such websites because some of them can hide infected programs, and sometimes even one click can be enough to start an execution of a potentially unwanted program or even a malicious computer threat.

 Websearch.searchtheuniverse.info

Moreover, it is known that this PC intruder can collect information about your browsing habits, so if you do not want to share your browsing history, search queries, IP address and related information with unreliable sources, you should consider removing Websearch.searchtheuniverse.info hijacker. To avoid such dangers and to ensure your computer’s safety, it is recommended to have an anti-spyware program on your computer. This is why we recommend installing Reimage – this application is a well-known and reliable tool that can detect and delete various computer parasites.

How can Websearch.searchtheuniverse.info hijack my computer? I did not give authorization for it!

Websearch.searchtheuniverse.info browser hijacker is spread in a vague way – via bundling method. This software marketing technique allows to bundle several programs together and hide the additional programs from the user. Therefore, if you tend to install new programs quickly, you may not notice where the agreements to install additional apps are hidden. As a result, you can install these optional apps WITH your permission. To avoid such deception, you have to be very attentive when installing new programs. Investigate the Terms of Use and Privacy Policy forms and look for any clues that this application contains optional freeware. Next, check the installation settings – deselect the automatically chosen ”default” or ”standard” method and opt for ”advanced” or ”custom” installation mode instead. Then the setup window should expand, and you shall see a list of agreements that claim you agree to install optional applications (in this case, Websearch program and browser extension). Deselect all these statements, and finish the installation process.
