What is Windows 7 Free Scan?

“Windows 7 Free Scan” is a pop-up messages that may start emerging within Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, and Internet Explorer out of nowhere. The pop-up looks reliable since it claims to be the partner of Windows and Intel. Its scan is aimed at finding various infections, junk files, and other useless things that slow down the machine. Unfortunately, the service seems to be bogus and deceptive. Security experts have found this advertising platform embedded into the adware-type programs, such as Safer Browser, SaferSurf, BrowsrAversion2.5, Cleanignite and many others. Therefore, it means that the emergence of “Windows 7 Free Scan” popups is a clear sign that your computer has been infected by an adware. The main purpose of this messages is to spread other potentially unwanted programs (PUPs), such as adwares or browser hijackers. Therefore, you should stay away from it and NEVER click ‘Start Scan’ button. People who have been convinced to perform a scan with “Windows 7 Free Scan” virus have reported that scan results didn’t show viruses or other malicious infections. However, most of them were informed about tons of outdated registries and offered to update such programs as Java, Flash Player, Media Player, Adobe Reader, Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Download Manager and other popular free software. Be careful because it’s just a trick that cyber criminals use to spread suspicious programs on people’s computers. Consequently, if you click the buttons, such as ‘Run the Update’ or ‘Click to Update now’, instead of a promised update, you may accept to install unwanted or even malicious programs without even realizing that. That’s why we recommend you to run a full system scan with Reimage as soon as suspicious pop-ups show up in your web browser in order to detect and remove “Windows 7 Free Scan”-related adware.

How can Windows 7 Free Scan hijack my computer?

“Windows 7 Free Scan” ads are caused by an ad-supported browser add-on. Therefore, if you have already started seeing them, there is no doubt that an adware or a potentially unwanted program hides in your computer. As you probably already known, programs that belong to aforementioned categories typically spread bundled with other freewares. There are hundreds of free programs that spread filled with ‘optional downloads’ (add-ons, plug-ins, toolbars, extensions); therefore, we are not capable of listing them all here. However, whenever you decide to install a freeware, remember that third-party download websites, such as download.com, soft32.com, softonic.com, cnet.com, etc. are the number one distributor of bundled software. Thus, be very careful when installing freewares on your PC and don’t don’t forget to select Advanced or Custom installation. Besides, you should monitor the entire process and unmark check boxes notifying your agreement to install ‘additional components’, such as “Windows 7 Free Scan” virus. By the way, as you probably understood, “Windows 7 Free Scan” pop-u[ virus is targeted at the computers based on Windows 7 OS. However, there are other versions of this scan, including “Win 8.1 free scan”, Win 8 free scan”, and “Windows Vista free scan”. Therefore, be careful when installing freewares and if any of these advertising platforms have already showed up on your screen, take needed actions to get rid of it.
