About YourSpeedTestNow:

YourSpeedTestNow by SaferBrowser (a.k.a. Your Speed Test Now) is promoted as a new tab extension that can be used for monitoring the speed of the Internet. As stated on the official website, this app allows to check the speed “of your home or work ISP, high-speed data plan or WiFi hotspots.” No matter if you treat this service useful or not, you should better think twice before installing it on the system. The 2-spyware security experts and other reputable vendors warn that YourSpeedTestNow extension is potentially dangerous to PC’s security, stability, and resistance to potentially unwanted programs.

In fact, this doubtful speed checker has already been classified as a browser hijacker and potentially unwanted program (PUP). It has been found that YourSpeedTestNow virus is used to benefit third parties by displaying sponsored links, advertisements, and other content. Besides, this application may also be used for analyzing users’ web browsing habits. That’s why it may render tracking cookies and continuously accumulate the following information: PC’s IP address, approximate geolocation, email address, search queries, pages viewed, clicks, download/upload details, etc. Such information helps third party advertisers to customize offers, what increases the possibility that people will fall for clicking on them.

Questions about YourSpeedTestNow

YourSpeedTestNow belongs to the huge group of SaferBrowser hijackers. Even though partially it may be classified as ‘adware,’ the majority of issues that it implements once installed are typical to browser hijackers. To be more precise, YourSpeedTestNow malware is spread along with a third-party search engine, namely Upon a successful installation of this extension, the aforementioned search engine will be set as a default homepage, search provider, and a new tab page. This search engine has already been included into our database. It has been found that it is sponsored by Yahoo search, so once you type a search query in the search bar, YourSpeedTestNow redirects to results. Even though this search engine is legitimate and reliable, in collaboration with this extension it should not be used. In fact, this dubious software and its search site may present you with altered search results filled with the links to the sponsor’s websites. Unfortunately, but some of the links may not be safe to encounter as they may disguise doubtful or even unsafe content. Last, but not least, you should also stay away from YourSpeedTestNow ads because they may also contain hyperlinks to questionable web pages. All in all, to fix your web browser’s settings, prevent your computer from further infections, and similar issues, you should terminate this extension without a delay. For that, you can use Reimage Reimage Cleaner or another reliable anti-spyware.

How can YourSpeedTestNow hijack the system?

There are several means employed for distributing this third-party extension. These are:

  • It has the official website and can be promoted right there (for free);
  • Your Speed Test Now software may also be downloaded via Chrome web store;
  • Besides, it may be spread via software packages.

Although it this tool can be downloaded directly believing that it will help monitoring web browser’s speed, the majority of the downloads have been initiated indirectly via software packages. As you probably already know, ‘bundling’ is a misleading distribution technique that can make you install unwanted programs, such as YourSpeedTestNow without realizing that. To prevent this from happening, don’t skip Advanced/Custom installation settings unchecked. Ensure that you analyze each checkbox and reject installation of ‘optional downloads,’ such as browser add-ons, toolbars, plug-ins or extensions.
If it too late to prevent infiltration of this tool, you should open the next page because it provides an accurate YourSpeedTestNow removal guide.
