We have tested free limited version of PestBot on clean uninfected system. The application detected 4 critical registry entries related to browser hijackers and entire cookie directory. Analysis showed that all found registry keys actually contained safe default settings of Microsoft Internet Explorer and did not possess any threat. All cookies on our test system were received from legitimate Internet resources. Screenshot provided below proves that PestBot produces false positives.
Free version of PestBot refuses to remove any malicious objects it found. It asks to register and purchase full product.
PestBot is the same application as AlertSpy, Doctor Adware, AdwarePatrol, SpywareRemoval and others. It has the same interface, spyware definitions database and produces exact scan results. Installed files are terribly similar.
The official site is pestbot.com. It lacks detailed information about the software and its vendors, but contains deceptive descriptions of non-existent PestBot features. Vendors claim that the program blocks pop-ups and malicious ActiveX scripts, provides firewall, antivirus and real-time protection, has award-winning support. Actually PestBot DOES NOT have these functions, vendors are lying.
We highly recommend to avoid this product!
