SpyVest uses false positives. We have tested this program on clean uninfected system. Scan report contained 12 suspicious objects related to spyware. However, all these objects actually were associated with fully legitimate software and couldn’t harm the system. For instance, file unregmp2.exe is a part of Microsoft Windows Media Player, executable updreg.exe and corresponding registry entry are related to Creative sound card drivers, browseui.dll is an essential part of Microsoft Internet Explorer. Moreover, objects belonging to legitimate eMule peer-to-peer program and InstallShield installer also were recognized as spyware. See screenshot below.
This product is a variant of NoSpyX, Spyware Stormer, X-Spyware and others. It uses slightly modified spyware definitions database, has the same look and functions. SpyVest is a knockoff of reputable Ad-Aware antispyware.
